Budget luggage is generally built from polyester fabric instead of ballistic Nylon or Cordura. It may seem like a good deal to buy cheap suitcases, but the product will not last nearly as long as expensive luggage. At $65, the Helium Fusion is more than a bargain for a suitcase from Delsey. It has many convenient features and only weighs 9.5lbs due to a lightweight frame made from graphite. This is the same material that is used for constructing tennis rackets and golf clubs. Compared to the Tumi Alpha that costs $595, the Helium Fusion looks just as good and is two kilos lighter, allowing you to stay under airline weight limits.
Travelers have been very impressed with the performance of the Helium Fusion. The interior section is spacious and can be accessed easily. The wheels are also convenient and roll smoothly on various surfaces. However, durability is a weak area for the Helium Fusion, since abrasion tests resulted in severe tears on the polyester fabric. All Delsey suitcases include a 5 year warranty for manufacturer defects.
The Helium Fusion is available in a variety of colors to suit the needs of every traveler. For a girly style, consider getting the pink color and combining it with cute luggage tags. Even though the fabric quality is not the highest, this suitcase is still unbelievably light and can last a long time if taken care of properly. The kick area features a PVC covering to protect the bag frame from snapping if your suitcase goes down a curb or a couple steps. The bag weighs 10 pounds while empty and has large, spacious pockets for storing extra items. However, don’t expect this bag to last more than five years.
