4 Tips for You and Your New Stainless Steel Juicer
The day I was able to get my stainless steel juicer I felt like a kid at Christmas. Here was this wonderful machine that would extract the juice from darn near anything edible I put inside it, and at the same time remove all the pulp, peel, and nastiness – leaving only yummy juice in its wake.
Alas, the love affair quickly turned into a learning venture as I got accustomed to the trials and tribulations of juicing daily.
Here I present to you 5 tips of I learned along the way, from my raw food kitchen to yours.
1. Don’t Be Lazy With the Cleaning
Trust me on this one, folks. The moment you start to think, “Oh I’ll just clean my Omega Juicer up after I drink this glass of juice,” is the moment you start the ongoing process of having a dirty juicing. From there it only gets dirtier because now it’s even harder to clean, and one thing leads to another and you just won’t end up juicing as much as you should otherwise.
So don’t do it! And since it’s stainless steel, you can even be lazy and just throw those parts in the dishwasher. No excuses!
2. Keep It Sweet
For a beginners taste buds, juicing can taste…weird. For instance, none of my friends were too interested in my pure cabbage juice drink. It’s not a grand way to get started. (And I won’t even mention my experiment juicing 100% collard greens. Okay, I will say this – it was disgusting.)
When you’re starting with a juicer, you want to throw some sweetness over the stainless steel blades and let it works it’s magic. You Can do this by adding your favorite fruit. For me this usually means pears or apples, but you can add whatever you want in this department.
3. Follow some Juicer Recipes
Experimenting is awesome but when you’re starting, it’s best to look up some recipes online and see what works. From here you get a sense of how to combine leafy greens, fruits, and other juicy items for the best taste. Heck, you might even end up inventing a few recipes of your own when it’s said and done!
4. Keep It Accessible
If you have to store your juicer in some random spot in the kitchen – like on the bottom shelf behind the pots and pans, or up high in the pantry closet – over time you’ll find you just won’t juice anymore. It’s true what they say – “out of sight, out of mind.” I like to keep mine front and center next to the kitchen sink. This makes it accessible at all times and it makes cleaning a breeze.
Follow these 4 tips when you first get a juicer and I promise it will make your life a lot easier. What other tips do you have that you can share about your juicer?
