Tricks to Mastering a 2 Man Tent More Quickly and Easily
The great things about 2 man tents is that they are really made for backpacking. The 2 man tents of yesteryear were bulky and heavy. Many times they were very cumbersome to carry, and would weigh a person down when trekking into the wilderness. The tents today are no longer like that. With advanced technology the people that design tents and camping equipment are masters at their skill. They have taken a very bulky and heavy tent that we might have used a few years ago and made it into a small item that can fit on the side of a backpack. Not only that, but they are stronger more spacious and more aerodynamic. With all new advancement comes a new learning curve and that is what we will discuss briefly.
Two man tents are easy to master but when first starting out they can be a little of a hassle to learn. Here is the number one recommendation before you purchase the tent. Go to the store and actually set the tent up in the store. Any good business will let you do this. This is no different than trying on clothes to see if they fit. Here you are trying on the tent. If you need extra space ask the clerk where you can set the tent up at. When you set it up before you buy you will see the exact process it will take to set up in the wilderness. Many times the clerk will help you as well. This will also save you a ton of stress and time while in the wilderness and that is the goal. Minimize the time you have to spend on setting up the campsite so you can maximize play and rest time.
Once you set the tent up a few times it will get easier and easier each time. It will take less time and you can do it quickly. Another reason this is a great idea is because when you set the tent up in the store many times you will have an expert there to help. Experienced campers will show you many tricks to camping that will also minimize your time setting up your campsite.
The next suggestion is to make sure you purchase a double seamed tent. This will add a considerable amount of life to your tent as well as protecting you twice as much from the rain. I would never buy a tent that is not double seamed. If it is not then it is just cheaply made.
The last suggestion is to buy some waterproof sealant and apply it onto the seams of the tent. This is a great idea even if the tent is old or new. It will never hurt to apply this to the tent. The sealant is very inexpensive and easy to use.
Happy camping!!!!
